Another one in the bag for the M1s! We came out with a solid 2-1 win against Khalsa Leamington, but it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing at times – particularly with a pitch as slippery as it was. Adam and Gary seemed to be sliding around more than playing, both going flying every few minutes!

Khalsa opened the scoring on the break around 10 minutes in. Their forward gave Craig a shoulder barge that Joe Marler would have been proud of, sending him sprawling before putting the ball in the back of the net. The umpire didn’t see anything wrong though.

Despite going a goal down, we didn’t panic and started creating plenty of chances. The problem was we just couldn’t seem to finish them off. We rattled the post, had a few near misses, and generally couldn’t find that final touch. Adam got a green card for shooting after the whistle (which probably wasn’t the smartest move) and then, to top it off, managed to injure Corey by hitting him with the ball.

Second half, though, we found our rhythm. We started playing the way we know we can, and Khalsa barely got a look-in. We completely dominated possession and kept the pressure on their defence.

The breakthrough came when Corey scored a tidy deflection after a cracking pass from Craig – 1-1. Corey wasn’t done, though. Not long after, he popped up again, and after a defender got a stick to it, the ball deflected straight into the net to give us a 2-1 lead. Not the cleanest goal, but we’ll take it!

The scoreline didn’t really reflect how much we dominated. We were by far the better side, just a bit unlucky in the first half. But we kept plugging away, doing the right things, and eventually, it paid off.

Man of the Match was Corey for his two goals and his passion throughout the game. He really stepped up when we needed him. As for Dick of the Day… well, Adam earned that one for injuring his own teammate and getting the green card after the whistle! Not the finest moment.

But all in all, a solid win. Last game before Christmas next week! The aim is to be top at Christmas.
